Why is a Leaf Green?

APBIO-MO2E6Y

Plant cells are unique because they have organelles called chloroplasts that have the ability to convert solar energy into chemical energy. As you were examining the cells of the leaf of a plant, and the chloroplasts within that leaf, you discovered the reason for the green color of the leaf.

What did you find, and what is its function?

A

Chlorophyll 'b' is composed of light trapping molecules essential for photosynthesis.

B

Chlorophyll 'a' is composed of light trapping molecules essential for photosynthesis.

C

Chlorophyll 'c' is composed of light trapping molecules essential for photosynthesis.

D

Chlorophyll 'a' is composed of light trapping molecules essential for cellular respiration.
