A block of mass $m_1=0.5$ $\text{kg}$ hangs in equilibrium from a spring of force constant $k=5.0$ $\text{N/m}$. A mean student throws an indifferent blob of mass $m_2=0.1$ $\text{kg}$ upward at the block with a speed of 7.0 m/s. The blob sticks to the block, and they begin to oscillate.
