Lineweaver-Burk Plot and Inhibition

BIOCHM-KEVESM

The activity of an enzyme decreases in the presence of a molecule which acts as an inhibitor.

In order to determine what type of reversible inhibitor it is, the enzyme assay is done with substrate alone and with substrate plus this inhibitor. The results are used to construct a Lineweaver-Burk plot which is shown.

Which choice describes the type of inhibition observed in the graph?

This is a Lineweaver-Burk plot: the y-axis is 1/Velocity and the x-axis is 1/[S]. Kelly Keenan, Created for Albert.io. Copyright 2016. All rights reserved.
