Ames Test Effect of Metabolism

The Ames test is a widely used method to test chemicals using bacteria as a model system. Homogenized liver extracts, usually from mice or rats, are also used in the test to reflect how these chemicals are modified in the human body due to metabolism. Shown in the figure below is an example of the Ames test in two separate experiments.
