Function of the Cholinergic Diffuse System

NEURO-9G9ZLC

Diffuse modulatory neurons influence the function of many other neural centers. When the modulatory system is not functioning, the centers requiring modulation are not influenced and the result is diminished neural function. The cholienergic (acetylcholine) system influences the function of neural centers which aid in learning and memory.

Damage to which cholinergic system would be expected to impair learning?

A

Dorsolateral pons ACh system.

B

Corticospinal ACh system.

C

Basal forebrain ACh system.

D

Medial septal ACh system.
