GHB is a controlled substance. Its positive mode electrospray ionization mass spectrum gives a protonated molecular ion peak with an m/z ratio of 104.8, and its negative mode electrospray ionization mass spectrum gives a deprotonated molecular ion peak with an m/z ratio of 102.9.
