Salary Increases

SATMAT-OREYYW

Salary increases are given to an employee, if and only if, that employee has an evaluation of "Highly Effective" at the end of the year. Otherwise, the employee's salary stays the same for the following year. Whenever a salary is increased, the amount of increase is always the same.

An employee earned ${\$35,000}$ during his first year with the company. At the end of two years, his salary was increased to ${\$38,500}$. And, during his fifth year with the company, he was earning ${\$42,000}$. What can correctly be inferred from this information?

A

His salary was ${\$36,750}$ during his second year with the company.

B

The employee may have been evaluated as "Highly Effective" only once.

C

The employee must have been evaluated as "Highly Effective" at least two times.

D

The employee must have been evaluated as "Highly Effective" exactly two times.
