Clinton's Foreign Policy

In October 1993, President Clinton authorized the deployment of U.S. Army Rangers to Somalia in Eastern Africa to support the food relief efforts from marauding tribes. The Battle of Mogedishu, immortalized in the book and film Black Hawk Down, unfortunately resulted in 18 dead servicemen along with 84 wounded, leaving a bewildered President questioning future policy decisions.

Within a year, Clinton was again faced with the decision as to whether to send American military support in which he, in turn, denied fearing a similar occurrence.
