What rationale does Tom give Huck in Chapter 35 for why stealing is acceptable?
As long as you return it later, you are only borrowing.
They are stealing on a prisoner's behalf and it is not a crime for a prisoner to steal what he needs to escape.
It is what The Authorities have taught Tom is right.
Tom plans to pay Aunt Sally in coin for what they steal after it is all said and done.
He does not bother rationalizing and just tells Huck that is how it is.
