What is sadly ironic about Gatsby’s funeral?
It is attended by people Gatsby never knew, but who wanted to see their names in the newspaper.
Wolfsheim has arranged a full military funeral and introduces himself to others as the man who “made Gatsby.”
Despite how popular Gatsby seemed to be when he gave his lavish parties, only his father, Nick, and the man Nick met at one of the parties, the man with the owl-eyed glasses, attend the funeral.
Daisy appears at the funeral, wailing like a distraught widow, and has to be restrained by Tom; Finally, she is able to show Gatsby the love he craved from her.
The funeral is not held for several days after Gatsby’s death, and the news reporters who were so interested in his murder don’t bother to attend.
