What is the significance of doublethink as seen in the following quote:

To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repusiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed.

The paradoxical nature of doublethink seen in this quote is displaying all of the true inner feelings Winston has but shows the actual ways he must go about hiding these from the Party.

The process of consciously knowing what you're thinking is wrong and taking it a step further to insure that you do not vocalize or go against the Party is doublething.

Doublethink can be seen through this quote when the individual has the ability to control their unconsciousness consciously.
