Three Questions, Leo Tolstoy, 1885

Why does the King not reward any of the men or women who provided an answer to his three questions?

He felt like the answers were not fully correct or fully answered.

He did not like the people who volunteered answers and so was biased.

He believed that there were smarter people who did not come forth yet.

He did not agree with any of the answers provided because of how different the answers were.
