The cell cycle, consisting of the $G_1$, $S$, $G_2$ and $M$ phases, can be manipulated to continuously grow a cell line.

This is a powerful tool used in biochemical and biotechnology research. However, when researchers need to slow down that continuous cycle for long-term storage, they induce the cell to enter a $G_0$, also referred to as a dormant state.

With that in mind, where would the $G_0$ phase be with respect to the full cell cycle?

Between the $G_1$ and $S$ phase.

Between the $G_2$ and $M$ phase.

Between the $M$ and $G_1$ phase.

Between the $S$ and $G_2$ phase.
