Although there are significant interactions within all parts of the human brain, each part has its own unique function.
For each of the following, determine whether the part of the brain is correctly or incorrectly paired with its function.
Medulla oblongata — responsible for unconscious control of respiration and circulation.
Cerebellum — performs cognitive functions including thinking, processing, and producing, and comprehending language.
Thalamus — acts as a “relay station” of sensory information from the sensory neurons to the cerebral cortex.
Limbic system — functions in emotions, motivation, olfaction, memory, and behavior.
Cerebral cortex — receives sensory information and coordinates movements to maintain balance.
