CD4$^+$ T helper cells have many functions during adaptive immunity based on their specific subset. The main generally accepted subsets of T helper cells are: T helper 1 (T$_{H}$1), T$_{H}$2, T$_{H}$17, T follicular helper (T$_{FH}$), and regulatory T cells (T$_{reg}$).
