Patients with Marfan Syndrome express a mutation in fibrillin, a glycoprotein secreted into the extracellular matrix by fibroblasts that contributes to the microfibrils that surround elastin. In addition to the increased elasticity of the skin, many patients also experience abnormalities to the nervous and cardiac systems.
