When a particular string that is fixed at both ends and stretched to a tension $T_1$ is vibrated at a certain frequency, a standing wave with four antinodes is produced. When the string is stretched to tension $T_2$ and vibrated at the same frequency as before, a standing wave with three antinodes is produced.
