Over the years, our Content team has developed a deep expertise in California's academic standards, graduation requirements, and assessments. We've summarized the considerations that have guided our product development below.
California adopted the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for Math and ELA and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in 2010.
Unlike many states that later moved away from Common Core, California has maintained its adoption with minimal modifications. The state supplements these national frameworks with California-specific standards in History–Social Science, Computer Science, Health, CTE, World Languages, and the Arts.

ELA & Math: Grades 3–8 assessments (SBAC).
Science: Targeted prep for Grades 5 & 8 (CAST).
SBAC ELA & Math: Grade 11.
CAST Science: Once in high school.
SAT® & ACT®: Not state-required, but widely used.

To earn a California High School Diploma, students must complete 13 full-year courses. No state exit exam required.
Personal Finance is graduation requirement for the class of 2031 and forward.

Rigorous practice across grades and subjects, fewer students fall behind.
Elective credits, Civics, Financial Literacy, Health, and more.
Personal Finance, supports the new AB 2927 requirement.

Two years ago and last year, I used Albert extensively in both my AP U.S. History and AP European History classes. After the exam, students unanimously said Albert helped prepare them. Pass rates prove it: 92% for AP U.S. History and 81% for AP Euro.
I love, and my students love, the chance for them to get immediate feedback when they make a mistake. Albert has made it very easy to view and organize data which helps me organize lessons for my students.
The questions are categorized into levels of difficulty, and students get to practice so many of them on all topics. The summary helps me understand which questions most students missed or got correct.
Albert makes it easy to assign activities and monitor my students' progress. I can see their proficiency and the areas I need to reteach.
I am able to find more complex and deep thinking questions tied to our standards. The data allows me to quickly see where each student is, what I need to reteach, and what they understand. The formative assessments are extremely valuable for the academic growth of my students.
Albert provides immediate feedback after students submit their answers. The analysis system is amazing, it lets me check the progress of each student or class and see who needs support.

Students who independently prepared with Albert’s AP® Question Banks consistently outperformed national AP® averages in 2024 and 2025, driven by sustained, high-volume practice.
