Over the years, our Content team has developed a deep expertise in North Carolina's academic standards, graduation requirements, and assessments. We've summarized the considerations that have guided our product development below.
North Carolina uses the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSCOS) for all core subjects. Math and ELA are aligned to Common Core with state revisions; Science follows a customized version of NGSS.
The state assesses students through EOG (Grades 3–8) and EOC (high school) exams. NC requires the ACT® and PreACT® for all students, making college-readiness testing universal across the state.

ELA & Math: Grades 3–8 (NC End-of-Grade, EOG).
Science: Grades 5 and 8 (NC EOG Science).
ACT®: Required for all 11th graders (state-funded).
PreACT®: Required for all 10th graders (state-funded).
EOC exams: NC Math 1, Math 3, Biology, English II.
AP® & IB®: Widely available.
North Carolina requires 22 credits under the Future-Ready Core graduation plan. Students must pass NC EOC exams in English II, NC Math 1, NC Math 3, and Biology. ACT® and PreACT® are required for all 11th and 10th graders, respectively.

Rigorous practice across grades and subjects, fewer students fall behind.
Elective credits, Civics, Financial Literacy, Health, and more.

I am highly likely to recommend Albert Adaptive to a colleague because it effectively personalizes student learning and provides immediate, targeted feedback that helps students grow at their own pace.
Reading check-ins, testing (both multiple choice and written) with AP® courses. We are also using it as an ACT® study tool in 9th grade English. The variety of ways we can use Albert across our building makes it one of our most valuable resources.
Albert is simple to implement and fits naturally into bell ringers, independent practice blocks, homework, or remediation. The standards alignment and built-in explanations make it easy to target exactly what my students need.
Albert lets students work at their own pace and gives feedback immediately so that students can truly practice when working through questions. The range of question types and rigor makes it invaluable for AP® prep.
I love the AP® style multiple choice questions that really make kids think outside the box. They get immediate, detailed explanations that help them understand not just the right answer, but why the other options were wrong.
My unit tests are designed to be AP® level rigor and force students to apply their knowledge outside of just rote skills. Albert gives me a bank of questions that match that bar and saves me hours of assessment writing.

Students who independently prepared with Albert’s AP® Question Banks consistently outperformed national AP® averages in 2024 and 2025, driven by sustained, high-volume practice.
